| Japanese researchers recently announced plans to develop a sensor using a cell phone to monitor physical activity on a real time basis. The system uses acceleration sensors (like those used in motion-sensing video game systems) to determine whether a person is walking, running, sitting or standing, and is small enough to be embedded into a cell phone.
